Poem- Open Your Heart

She smiled at him.
He looked away.
She’d opened her heart.

She waved at him.
He glared at her.
Open your heart.

She left him a gift.
He threw it away.
He trampled her heart.

He saw her tears.
He wiped them away.
He opened his heart.

He said he was sorry.
She cast her eyes down.
She’d closed her heart.

He told her his story.
She listened, understood.
reopen your heart.

Though he was scared.
He tried just for her.
He kept open his heart.

Together they laughed.
They grew, they cried.
Their hearts opened up.

Now they are married.
Then kids born and raised.
Their hearts became one.

Time went by gay.
Then one passed away.
The survivors heart closed, most of the way.

Their children they helped.
But it wasn’t the same.
Their hearts were connected in a unique way.

One day the living heart came to a stop.
It had grown cold.
It had broken apart.

But their heart warmed.
when they meant after death.
Forever, their hearts were together again.
